Hot Springs National Park

Arkansas – 2010

In 1832, Hot Springs Reservation was created by U.S. Congress to be preserved for future recreation, marking the first time land had been set aside by the federal government for preservation.  Because of this designation, Hot Springs National Park is featured first in the America the Beautiful Quarter series by the U.S. Mint.

Hot Springs National Park is known for it’s thermal hot springs, which were used for therapeutic bathes and to treat various ailments.  The water is pumped into the eight bathhouses on Bathhouse Row and visitor’s can get baths or spa services at the various facilities today.

We ventured out to Hot Springs, Arkansas as one of our first driving trips from our new home in Texas.
